Sustainable Economic Summit
Creating clear, minimal visual keys for
a national sustainability conference
Project Summary
For the Sustainable Economy Summit in Berlin, I was commissioned to create the event’s key visuals and develop illustrations to complement the conference’s communication design. Working within the established corporate identity and strategic framework, I designed clear and recognizable visual keys, as well as a set of illustrated portraits for the speakers — later replaced by photographs. My illustrations were featured across printed materials, venue maps, and event signage, contributing to a cohesive and recognizable visual presence.
Client
The Sustainable Economy Summit is a high-level conference organized by UPJ in partnership with German ministries and leading companies. It brings together business leaders, policymakers, and researchers to advance sustainable innovation and economic transformation.
Icon Libary
I created the icon libary for The Sustainable Economy Summit. Each icon within the library embodies a unique aspect of sustainability, ranging from mobility and tourism to food, water, finance, and beyond. The shape of the main logo has been incorporated into each icon, ensuring visual consistency and brand recognition. At the heart of each icon lies a hand, symbolizing human involvement and interaction, crucial elements in driving sustainable change. The hands are not just a passive observer but actively engage with the icon, signifying our collective responsibility and commitment to addressing these vital topics. Each icon is designed to be clear, intuitive, and visually appealing, making it easy for viewers to understand and connect with the diverse range of topics covered at the summit. It serves as a visual representation of the Summit's multifaceted approach to sustainability, where human engagement and innovative solutions intersect to shape a more sustainable future for all.

Speaker Portraits
At the outset of the project, I was tasked with creating individual portraits of each speaker for The Sustainable Economy Summit, including notable figures such as Robert Habeck. While the initial plan was ultimately dismissed due to the rapidly growing number of speakers, the preliminary design for the portrait styles were successfully developed as seen in the examples.
Although the project did not come to fruition, the process of developing the styles was both rewarding and insightful. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring these and would welcome the opportunity to apply them to future projects.

My Role & Contribution
• Designed key visuals based on the existing corporate identity and communication strategy
• Created a series of minimal illustrations for print and event use
• Supported the visual coherence of the summit’s materials across media
What I Learned
I refined my ability to communicate complex content through reduction and clarity, learning how to translate strategic objectives into minimal but impactful visual systems. It reinforced my capacity to balance design aesthetics with functional communication in public events.
I also learned to “kill your darlings” and that some projects, no matter the work, might get cancelled in the end and thats okay.
