Deutscher Blinden- und Sehbehindertenverband (DBSV)

Designing accessible communication through inclusive animation

Project Summary

For the Deutscher Blinden- und Sehbehindertenverband, our team created an educational explainer video series on how to produce accessible media for individuals with visual impairments. The goal was to raise awareness and provide practical guidance for inclusive content creation. I designed the main characters, developed the storyboard, assisted in conceptual refinement, and voiced one of the characters. The series balanced clarity, empathy, and technical precision to ensure full accessibility.

Client

The DBSV is a nationwide organization advocating for the rights and inclusion of blind and visually impaired people in Germany. It works closely with policymakers to improve accessibility standards across public and private sectors.

My Role & Contribution

• Character design with attention to accessibility and clear visual communication

• Storyboard creation and conceptual contribution

• Voice acting for one of the animated characters

What I Learned

I gained valuable insight into designing for accessibility — from color contrast and typography to clarity of movement and audio description. The experience strengthened my ability to communicate complex information inclusively and sensitively.
