Dropped the Scam, Found the Fam
Turning shared experience into something unexpectedly joyful
Working with classic
rubber-hose era cartoons
This piece emerged from a situation that was anything but light: a group of strangers brought together by the same love scam. What could have remained a quiet, isolating experience became something else entirely: A connection, humor, and a sense of belonging, making the best out of it.
Instead of portraying individuals directly, I translated each person into playful, anthropomorphic objects. This allowed the story to be told through metaphor rather than exposure, softening the subject while preserving its emotional core. The characters walk together, unified, carrying both the absurdity and warmth of the experience.
Visually, the work draws from classic rubber-hose era cartoons, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Rounded forms, expressive faces, and simplified lines create an inviting aesthetic that feels nostalgic yet current. The intention was to design something sweet and appealing on the surface, but layered with meaning for those who know the story behind it. I had fun creating this for the heart of our group, and as a reminder that we are above whats been done to us.
“Dropped the scam and found the fam”
became more than a phrase, it became an emotional anchor and a shift from loss to connection.
I wanted to create a sweet wearable, shareable, and open to interpretation.
