Dropped the Scam,
Found the Fam

Turning shared experience into something unexpectedly joyful

Working with classic
rubber-hose era cartoons

This piece emerged from a situation that was anything but light: a group of strangers brought together by the same love scam. What could have remained a quiet, isolating experience became something else entirely – connection, humor, and a sense of belonging.

Instead of portraying individuals directly, I translated each person into playful, anthropomorphic objects. This allowed the story to be told through metaphor rather than exposure, softening the subject while preserving its emotional core. The characters walk together, unified, carrying both the absurdity and warmth of the experience.

Visually, the work draws from classic rubber-hose era cartoons, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Rounded forms, expressive faces, and simplified lines create an inviting aesthetic that feels nostalgic yet current. The intention was to design something disarmingly sweet—an image that communicates on multiple levels: instantly appealing on the surface, but layered with meaning for those who know the story behind it.

“Dropped the scam and found the fam”

became more than a phrase, it’s the emotional anchor of the piece. A shift from loss to connection, from isolation to community. And importantly, a design that lives beyond its origin: wearable, shareable, and open to interpretation.
